At 14 years of age, Toby had lived with his two best friend sheep for many years. Recently each of his friends passed away leaving Toby alone in his pasture. A neighbor reported that she could hear him constantly crying from loneliness. The neighbor along with some other kind-hearted people decided to help Toby find a new home where he could have a new family.
They contacted CAPE and we arranged a day to transport Toby to the sanctuary. As the door to his trailer opened and his large wooly head appeared, CAPE staff and volunteers fell instantly in love. Toby has one ear that stands up and the other droops. His face bears the mark of many years of life behind him. Although he is very overweight, Toby was able to amble out of the trailer and onto the grounds of his new home.
Within one day, he had met all the goats and had become fast friends with mini donkey Misty. Enjoy the photos and video of Toby's arrival at CAPE. He is sure to have many happy days here with new friends both animal and human.
