A Huge thanks to Meg Honan and Lauren Meyers for providing the funds for CAPE to build a much-needed equine medical barn. With so many senior equines who require ongoing vet care, this barn will allow CAPE staff and vets to provide our equines with top notch care in a dry and warm environment. We are so grateful to Meg and Lauren for their generous gift.
Meg, a beloved friend and long-time donor, hung our new signs and now it feels OFFICIAL! Because we rescue animals with special needs or who are older, the medical needs of the equines are extensive. We now have two large stalls to keep the donkeys and horses comfortable during treatments and a separate pasture when needed.
We will be breaking in the space with Remy, an ex-racehorse who has major hoof issues and arthritis due to his previous life. CAPE’s animal caregivers, with the help of our trusted vet, have been doing a weekly treatment for white line disease and other issues. The Equine Medical Barn will allow us to rescue more animals in need and improve the quality of care for those already living at the CAPE Animal Sanctuary!
