If there is one word we could use to describe Maya it would be happy. This amazing girl has overcome the limits of her background and life circumstances. Maya is from the Mexican state of Sonora. Rescued by one of CAPE's partners, Compassion Without Borders (CWOB), and brought to California to recover from her many ailments, Maya is thriving in her new environment. The highlight of Maya's many achievements is a new found zest for life. Playing and interacting with other dogs as if she were a pup again is one of her favorite activities, as you can see from her video below. Maya is steadily improving with her house training and is also learning behavior commands (like sit and come) like a pro. Maya, a two to three year old Sharpei mix, is a sweet and loving dog. She is very low-key when it's time to settle down and enjoys couch time with her foster family. We are not sure how she is with cats but we do know she is great with kids. CAPE and CWOB are dedicated to finding a wonderful home for Maya. She is currently being fostered in San Francisco. For more information please contact JP at 831-336-4695.

“"Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society's punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way."
~ Martin Luther King, Jr
