On a recent visit to the Front Street Animal Shelter in Sacramento, the CAPE staff noticed a tiny dark shape in a kennel. She seemed lost amongst several jumping kennel mates. We gathered her into our arms and took turns holding and snuggling with her. She was so happy to be cuddled and her large dark eyes were telling us she would like it if we never put her down.
Daphne came to the shelter after being a victim of a car crash. She had been inside a crate which was crushed in the accident. In the emergency veterinary hospital, glass had to be removed from her skin and combed from her fur. Luckily she has no residual injuries!
CAPE staff named her Daphne. In the car back to Grass Valley, she curled up on a CAPE volunteer's lap, and quietly fell asleep.
Daphne's foster mom describes her as "...lovable, smart, playful and very good with dogs!" She is fully crate-trained. She is a terrier mix who is between 1 - 2 years old. She is all black and weighs about 8 lbs.
