Back in 2006 a family was enjoying a visit to a park on Columbus Day when they noticed a strange sight inside a garbage can. It was a pair of chicken feet tied together and sticking out from a plastic bag. It was a rooster, still alive, who had been thrown away like trash. The family rescued him and named him Columbus.
Columbus lived happily at the CAPE Animal Sanctuary for ten years. On December 3, 2016, we found he had peacefully passed away. His beautiful morning crow is missed. |
“"Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society's punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way."
