Why does CAPE rescue burros?
CAPE is home to a herd of rescued burros and donkeys! In partnership with the American Wild Horse Preservation Campaign (AWHPC) and the Platero Project, CAPE advocates for and provides sanctuary for these gentle, resilient animals.
Once wild and free to roam the western plains, burros and wild horses now face extremely cruel treatment by the federal government; from unfair resource allocation on public lands to the traumatic, costly helicopter roundups, and overcrowded holding facilities. Wild horses and burros urgently need our protection. Learn about the critical threats they face, and discover how you can help advocate for their conservation and well-being on our public lands. burros rescued from public lands by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.
