The majority of animals CAPE rescues come directly from local shelters. Working closely with the shelter staff, CAPE evaluates animals based on their age, health, stress levels, and shelter space. CAPE has always made it a priority to rescue animals with special needs who have a far more difficult time finding new homes.
All of our rescued animals are placed into foster homes where they receive socialization, veterinary attention and lots of tender loving care. Foster home volunteers are a very special group of people. If you are interested in finding out how you can become a foster home volunteer, please contact us.
In 2012 we established the CAPE Animal Sanctuary in Grass Valley. Situated in the Sierra Foothills in Grass Valley, California, the sanctuary is a haven for injured, disabled and special needs animals with no other options for a safe place to go. Specializing in animals with disabilities, injuries or treatable medical conditions, the sanctuary can provide safety, comfort and rehabilitation to a variety of species.
